PREVENTING IDENTITY THEFT
Adults of all ages, not just seniors, may be targets of "Identity Theft". Identity theft is a multi-billion dollar business in the United States. Even though you may only lose a few dollars to these criminals, it may take years for you to regain you good name and credit.
TIPS:
- When ordering checks, do not provide unnecessary information.
- Always save your ATM or banking machine receipts and never throw them into a public trash container.
- Always shred pre-approved credit card applications, credit card receipts, bills or other financial information before discarding them.
- Memorize your passwords. Do not record them on paper or carry them in your wallet or purse.
