PREVENTING FRAUD AGAINST SENIOR CITIZENS

If you are over 60 years old you should be aware of possible fraud incidents. You could possibly be a target for person(s) who attempt to sell you something over the phone or stop at your residence. They may offer to do work at a cheap price, such as seal driveways, trim trees or other types of work. Some telemarketing calls are legitimate, but unfortunately that is not always the case.

TIPS:

  1. Always ask for the companies full name, address, phone number and a clear explanation of the offer
  2. Check companies by contacting Consumer Protection Agencies
  3. Legitimate companies will allow you to "Think About It", if it's legitimate it will be there later
  4. NEVER give telemarketers any financial information such as bank account, credit cards or social security info
